Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When injected into the muscles, it causes a mild form of paralysis. This discovery was recorded in 1897, and in 1992 the first publications appeared on its use for aesthetic purposes. Botox blocks the transmission of nerve impulses from neurons to muscle fibers. In this way, the injected muscle remains in a permanent state of relaxation for a period of 3 to 6 months or more.<\/p>\n

Botox is injected with very thin and short needles, the same as those used for insulin. The procedure is short, almost painless and seems quite simple from the patient's point of view.
